Gum is a furniture series which examines the interfacing between wood and silicone, two materials with contrasting properties. Silicone acts as an anti-slip surface and is also soft to touch. Utilizing silicone as a bonding agent or “gum”, the joints highlight the construction of each object. They also eliminate the possibility of gaps as the wood joint naturally expands and contracts in addition to acting as a vehicle for colour and pattern. Featured on Design Milk.
